Mini Notepad

Hi guys! Am having a bit of Monday blues as yep today is finally my final exam!!! Super duper nervous!! Pray for me so that I'll do well? :)

A simple something to cheer myself up, below is a DIY/ refashion of a mini notepad (or pocketbook, which I quite like the sound of it!) and it's pretty simple really. Remember the lace bracelet DIY I've posted? I just use some of the leftover lace to do it. Here goes!

Thing you need:

A small notepad

Printed fabric

Lace ribbon

Glue gun/ super glue

First off measure the part of your notepad where you want to cover and cut the fabric according to size. Measure a strip of lace ribbon as the width of the notepad and cut it accordingly. Use a glue gun, or just any long lasting super glue, glue the fabric then the lace, in that order and tada! You have refashion yourself a new simple notepad! :)

I know lately there's been a splash of ideas and I'm loving it! Maybe we'll see if I can do a DIY marathon and do it for a week straight! It's definitely a challenge but I'm willing to take it on! :)

Leather Bag

From kitchen apron to small exploring bag! Am so loving this simple bag that I'm gonna use it every time I go on my photography adventure! :)

Can't say I'm not pleased with the result. One afterword though: Leather is very hard to sew! :(

Was going around the hypermarket and a few leather aprons caught my eyes. Why on earth would anyone want their apron to be made of leather is beyond me but I saw it as a perfect refashion/ upcycle chance as soon as I saw the variety of colours the aprons have from black to all sorts of brown! Not forgetting to mention it only costs MYR8 per piece!

All you need is:
Leather fabric
Scissors
Not-too-small needle
Thread

And a simple tutorial on the how-do. Hope it's not too confusing! :)

1. Dark brown is the right side up. Lighter brown is wrong side down.
2. Cut a rectangle approximately how big you want your bag to be when folded in half where the dotted lines are right side inside.
3. With the wrong side facing you, sew the sides where the dotted line indicated.
4. This part is tricky and I'll try my best to tell you how. After the sides are sewn, press down the bag until two small triangles can be seen at the bottom sides as shown. Sew where the bold line indicate to give your bag more shape.
5. After finished sewing, flip your bag right side out and you'll get something like this.
6. Cut a small flap for your bag by measuring the width a tad shorter than that of your bag.
7. Sew on to top of bag and make sure you have the right sides correctly matched.
8. Cut a long strip for your bag strap (this may defer to how long you want your strap to be). Make the width twice as wide and fold in half where dotted lines indicated right sides together.
9. Sew the open side and flip it back right side out again after you're done.
10. Sew the strap to the sides of your bag where the X's indicated.
11. Cut two small pattern for the side of your bag and sew it wrong side up on top of where you sew on your strap to give it a more tidy and cute look.

Necklace Refashion Part 2

Good day! I'm starting today with a refashion project which I wasn't very satisfied with my last work. You can find it here and let me know what you think about it. Anyway, all it takes is just a couple of minutes and you're done!

Things you need:

An old necklace you'd like to refashion

Some necklace charms

A pair of pliers (if you don't want to ruin your nails which I did btw!)

1. remove the original necklace charm by sliding it off the chain (mine was too small to do that thus this is where those life saving pliers are useful!)

2. Add in any charms of your choice and you're done!

I know it's as easy as that. Makes me feel almost like I'm cheating on this project!

I replaced the ugly looking domino block with something more dainty! Hope you like this one better than the last one! :)

Necklace Refashion Part 1

Si? No? Old necklace refashion still can't make up my mind whether I like it or not or I'll try something else. What do you think? :)

Vintage Lace Shirt DIY/ Refashion

Before. Love how the back of the shirt is longer than the front.

Lace for the front of shirt.

Begin by spreading out shirt and smoothing out creases.  

Cut off sleeves if you don't want to keep them. I don't.

Measure amount of lace needed for shirt front part.

Cut dotted line parts to remove front part of shirt. I keep the middle button line and the collar to give it a vintage feel. After that, sew on lace accordingly. Hem the edges.

After. Total makeover for shirt. Love it! :)

Front and back. Pairing it with jeans.

Plain White Tee

One of the wardrobe necessities, one of a girl's must haves that I somehow forgot to add to my Girl's Must-Have List: a plain white tee. A simple white tee that is suitable for all occasion, a simple fashion life saver when you have no time to pick out a nice outfit. I'm going to show you how I made mine from an oversized shirt that I trifted. 

First what you need is just an oversized t-shirt, a pair of scissors, matching thread, and needle (for those like me who does not own a sewing machine).

This is how it looks like before I start to work on it.

To know how to make a bigger shirt smaller, I used the tutorial from cotton&curls but modify it a bit by cutting the bottom shirt into a curve,

I love the bigger neckline and the bottom shirt shape.

Saturday Buys

Had a nice Saturday out with one of my good friends. Went for Japanese food at one of my favourite place, Sushi King. After lunch and some heart to hearts we went shopping for DIY stuff! Am quite happy with my purchase and I'm happy too that there'll be more DIY projects I can try my hands on! Stay tuned for more to come! :)

Tank Top/ T-shirt Refashion

DIY tank top/ t-shirt refashion (whichever way you prefer to call it!) in just 5 simple steps and no sewing needed! All you need is a big pair of scissors and an old over-sized t-shirt and you're ready to start!

First, find a big enough space to spread out your shirt and smooth out the wrinkles as best as you can. This will help when you cut later. Line the hems side by side so that when you cut, it will be symmetrical.

This step is optional, but for me, I used a tank top to measure approximately the size of arm holes I want. For this project I prefer bigger arm holes.

After you measured, cut the arm holes. For better results, fold t-shirt in half from left to right (make sure it's lined up properly and all wrinkles smoothed out!) and cut one go so that both sides match.

This step is optional too if you like to keep the ready made hemmed neckline. For me, I simply cut it off! You can also cut the front neckline deeper or make it a V-neckline as you prefer.

Last and final step! Cut off shirt bottom hem either straight or curve like I did and you're done! :)
